Mood Board August 2020 - Funky & Eclectic Living Room Style

For August's mood board, I wanted to make something that was colorful, fun, eclectic, and, of course, shoppable.

Eclectic style is all about curating a collection of items and furniture for your home. It works best when you have a bold vision and commit to it. It uses pieces that have a lot ofpersonality or history to them. That being the case, it is important to know when to edit to keep the space from becoming too chaotic. For your space, think about what pieces you may already own that you could incorporate into this design. All of the pieces in this mood board can be ordered new, but it really adds to the story when you include a piece that has some history. Maybe you have an an old chair you picked up at the flea market or a family heirloom to display. Don't be afraid to use color, pattern, and texture throughout.

The color scheme for this living room is derived from a painting by Hungarian painter Kujbus Janos. I've included two wall paint colors inspired by this painting, Benjamin Moore Lazy Sunday (CC-846) and Sherwood Green (HC-118). Various textures are featured throughout, from the tufted chairs and sofa, ribbed throw pillow, and bone inlaid end table, and the bold patterns of the rug and Kelly Wearstler throw pillows keep the eye entertained.

Shop all of the items from this design here.

What types of furniture or accents would you add to this living room? Are you bold enough to go this colorful? Leave your thoughts and ideas in the comments below, and be sure to come back next month for an all new mood board.
